HISTORY

In accordance with the protocol signed between the Ministry of National Education and Erciyes University Rectorate, the protocol regarding the opening of primary school level hospital schools to provide education and training for children dependent on hospital for a long time was signed on 28.04.1994 by Erciyes University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Şahin and by Undersecretary V. Bener Cordan on behalf of the Ministry of National Education.



PROJECT GROUPS

The project of Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine Hospital Primary School is carried out by the General Directorate of Special Education, Guidance and Counseling Services on behalf of the Ministry, and by the Chief Physician of Erciyes University Hospitals on behalf of our University.

EDUCATIONAL STUDIES

Our school provides service in Mustafa ERASLAN - Fevzi MERCAN Children's Health and Diseases Hospital. We provide education and training services to patients receiving treatment in children's clinics, and we provide these services in our four classes in the Adolescent and Hematology, Child Neurology, and Child Infection departments. It is in an area suitable for the combined classes program, and while education and training services are provided to the first, second, third, fourth and fifth grades, we also try to be beneficial to the sixth, seventh and eighth grade students with resource books and tests. The services are visited and it is explained that there is a school in our hospital, students who are in good health are invited to the class, one-on-one studies are carried out with the students who come to the class by giving them resource books and tests according to their classes, and these studies are carried out considering the themes of the school they come from. Level-up studies are carried out with those who are inadequate in some classes. While these studies are carried out, attention is paid to the health status of the student and not to disrupt the treatments to be performed, and they are carried out with the permission of the relevant persons. Bedside education and training is provided to students who are in bed, and students who do not want it are not obliged to do so. Efforts are being made to ensure that students who are bedridden benefit from their right to education in the best way possible, and considering that these students are members of society, we are trying not to allow them to exclude themselves. We often make one-on-one conversations and try to raise their morale and ensure that they hold on to life. We try to provide visual and auditory education to bedridden patients. These students who are bedridden state that they are happy with visual and auditory education. We try to develop such education and training activities and offer them to the services of students. We try to convey that there is no age limit for gaining knowledge and that new information can be learned at every age. We try to make them gain the habit of spending time by reading books instead of wasting time. We try to be bright for dull eyes, to be a light to the dark world, and to add new lights to the darkness.



SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Some days, students' birthdays are celebrated as social activities and small gifts are given, university students organize theater, clown, music, entertainment, and morale days, and the pictures made by the students are exhibited in the service corridors. Adults who are willing to learn to read and write are also given literacy training. Within the scope of our President's Turkey is Reading campaign, companions are given books to try to gain the habit of reading. The tools and equipment for the normal cognitive, social and emotional development of sick children have been identified and purchased by the hospital administration.

Among the hospitalized patient students, the majority came from Kayseri city center and its districts, as well as Aksaray, Kırşehir, Niğde, Nevşehir, Yozgat, Kahramanmaraş, and the surrounding districts of Şarkışla, Gemerek, Gürün, Divriği, Yıldızeli, Saimbeyli, Tufanbeyli, Darende, Zara, and other various parts of the country. Home and Hospital, Educational Services Directive (February 2010 and 2629 numbered Journal of Announcements) The evaluation of individuals' success is carried out like other students in the school they are registered. However, in order for the success of an individual who benefits from the hospital education service to be evaluated, they must have attended the hospital school for at least one month. The education of individuals who receive hospital treatment for less than one month is continued in the form of reading-writing, problem solving, drawing and similar free activities based on the educational programs they are responsible for. The Hospital Primary School Student Registration and Information Form and the primary school attendance certificate are prepared and delivered to their schools by mail or to the parents against signature, and they are provided to deliver to the school administration they are registered to. Primary school institution attendance certificates are sent to the school principals where the patients who are inpatient for 10 days or more are registered, either by hand or by mail. The attendance certificate and transcript indicating the status of the students who are treated in our hospital throughout the year are sent by hand to the primary school principals they are registered to by the hospital administration.
